The Grisly Murders of the Jacksonville Cannibal

The Jacksonville Cannibal, also known as Gerard John Schaefer, was a serial killer who committed a series of murders in Florida in the 1960s and 1970s. Schaefer was a former police officer and was convicted of two murders in 1973, but it is believed that he may have killed as many as 30 people. He was known for mutilating and cannibalizing some of his victims, earning him the nickname "The Jacksonville Cannibal." Schaefer was sentenced to life in prison, but was later killed by another inmate in 1995. His crimes continue to be investigated and it is possible that additional victims will be identified in the future.
