Every now and then the Lord will put something upon our hearts to do or say. There are other times that He puts something upon our hearts that has a completely different feel to it. It is very deep and strong.

I have experienced this in my life from time to time. It is out of the ordinary and it got a hold of my heart. I could not discern what the Lord wanted or was perhaps trying to say to me.

Then I began to pray.

The more I prayed inquiring of God what it was, there was only a deepening and intensifying to it. There is also such a great conviction that comes from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Also with it comes temptation to want to share it with people. I have learned that it is not the will of God to share what is meant only for me with anyone. Many times it brings immediate scorn, anger and mocking.

I learned the hard way that when the Lord is moving within me like this, to never share it with anyone. It is not for them. Though it is okay to share a very small thing about it saying, "I sense the Lord is moving in me," then let it go.

I love the words Amy Carmichael wrote:

"Every strong conviction ends by taking possession of us; it overcomes and absorbs us, and tears us ruthlessly from everything else; it becomes our sole object, and outside it nothing seems to touch us; those who attack it are our enemies; those who love and serve it with us are our true, our only family. It takes steadfastness and the integrity of spirit, the love that inspires it, the note of the eternal dominates it."

The mark of maturity is trusting God in full steadfast obedience. You belong to Him and to no one else. It is Him you are to obey. Wait for Him in humble, quiet readiness.

I believe He is not only doing this in my life, but in the lives of others right now. He is getting many ready for what is coming upon us next year. He wants readiness to obey suddenly and to believe Him in the impossible.

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14.

"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." ~ Elisabeth Elliot
