Favorite Games Played in 2022 | #1 Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart

In 2022, we purchased and played a lot of games for a lot of different systems. From current generation Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 to retro games on the NES, Famicom and Genesis, there has been a lot to enjoy. I haven't played a lot of the 2022 new releases, slacker I know, but I did want to share my favorite games I spent time with in the past year.

Title: Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart
System: PlayStation 5

Where I Bought It:
Gamestop

Why I love it:
Ever since the PlayStation 3 I have loved the adventures of Ratchet and Clank. While I am known for my love of Earthworm Jim, I have to admit that I prefer Ratchet and Clank to even EWJ! The series is just so clever, so well written, the voice acting is great, the platforming is fun, the weapons are crazy, overall this is one of my favorite franchises of all time.

In Rift Apart, our favorite Lombax and robot are once again trying to stop Dr. Nefarious. This time, however, he has help, and a second Nefarious to defeat. We do get the return of some of our favorite enemies and weapons, and Mrs. Zurkon is a constant presence as well. We get introduced to Rivet, a female Lombax from another reality, and she is wonderful. I was concerned that Rivet would be replacing Ratchet, but instead, she is a well-fleshed-out and established addition to the cast. Overall, I love the way they handled her character and story, my concerns that they were doing a gender swap of Ratchet weren't warranted.

I've played this game so much and beaten it multiple times, each time enjoying more and more of the story. THIS is a system seller, THIS is why I bought a PS5, and I was not disappointed. This is not only my favorite game I played in 2022, but also my favorite game on the PlayStation 5. It ranks right up there with Mario Odyssey for me, it's that amazing!
