In this episode were going over different battery types, styles, well talk about different battery terms and go over battery tenders as well.

BATTERY TENDER is a company with a genericized trademark:
Meaning that it’s so widely used that it replaced the generic term Trickle Charger. Think of Tide, Kleenex, Hoover…
Battery Tender makes batteries and It also makes battery chargers and they’re most famously known for their trickle charger aka (battery tender).

BATTERY CHARGER is a device used to charge your battery:
A battery charger is typically more expensive than a battery tender. They usually come with more output settings for amps and volts. As well as settings to “trickle charge” and “jump start” a battery.
Let me know if you need more information specifically about battery Chargers.

GEL, AGM, LITHIUM, FLOODED… This is referring to the internals of the battery.
Gel batteries have a thick Gel like electrolyte so it stays in place well, AGM batteries use a glass mat to hold the electrolyte, Lithium batteries, well they use lithium and
Flooded batteries are “regular batteries” They have sulfuric acid splashing around the plates because there’s nothing to hold it still.
There’s varying reasons to use different batteries. If anyone wants to go over different types of batteries and their best applications let me know in the comments.

6 and 12 VOLTS refers to the voltage output on your battery. Most batteries these days are 12 volts. It typically says the voltage somewhere on the battery. It will also typically tell you the date, output rate and charge rate. But the batteries get dirty and are old… sometimes there’s no stickers or markings anywhere….. A lot of 6 volt batteries will have physical features that set it apart from a 12 v battery. 6 volt batteries are typically smaller, they’re moldings may also represent half the amount of cells…(3)
This optima battery makes it very easy to see that difference.

SEALED BATTERIES are batteries that come from the manufacturer already full of sulfuric acid (electrolyte) and the fluid is sealed in the cells.
UNSEALED batteries are the batteries that have the caps on the top… They come with a pack of sulfuric acid that you pour in, let soak, then put on the trickle charger for a while to charge up.

AMPS is the amount of force your battery can put out…
Amp hour refers to the power going in or out of a battery and how long it can sustain that power. Charging at 1 amp hour means you're putting 1 amp of energy into your battery every hour.
MILI AMP is one thousandth of an amp. In other words 750ma is the same as ¾ of an amp or .75 amps.

FLOAT charger, Battery maintainer, Battery tender.. Trickle charger.. They’re all used to MAINTAIN your battery power. Not to necessarily charge… but that doesn't mean that a battery tender cant charge your battery… ya just need the right tool for the right job.

A battery tender, or trickle charger sends a small amount of power to your battery, about 750ma- 2 amps an hour. Depending on what you get.
