Paula Black's Cancer Diagnosis

Rubrik Paula Black was 45 when she got diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a workaholic and thought she was healthy, athletic, and outgoing. She had a lump in her breast that got larger and larger, and she'd had a lot of benign cysts. Paula didn't take it too seriously for a long time. She didn't want to deal with it and waited way too long.

Paula finally got to the doctor for a mammogram, and the doctor scheduled her for a lumpectomy right away. The doctor found aggressive cancer and told her to do everything they recommended: aggressive chemo, radiation, and more surgery. She would not "live" more than three or six months if she didn't obey them.

There was no Internet at that time. You only had one resource, the doctor. Paula was married to a guy who had been the only survivor of an airplane crash. He told Paula to research more about cancer.

They spent hours every day at the library learning from journals, books, articles, and everything they could find. The more they researched, the more shocked they were about what they discovered. Paula was a classic case waiting for cancer. She thought people got zapped with cancer. It was just an unlucky draw that she got cancer.

Faith was a big part of her life. Paula was praying to God to show her the way to her healing. At first, she thought that doctors were part of the divine plan.
