It's the Holidays, Pizza in Italy

The Christmas season would not be the same without a day of pizza making. This year Filippo took control of the ovens and made his amazing pizzas. A fun time with delicious pizzas. It is hard for me to put into words the joy I feel being part of this family. Each year the hugs get a bit longer and the good-byes seem a bit more sad. It helps the heart to not miss my family in the states as much.
I have come to embrace the holidays, in my little village. The thrill of making "American" cookies to give and the warm greetings of "kiss-kiss"(cheek to cheek) and "Buon Natale" (Merry Christmas) to "Buon Anno" (Happy New Year). I am thankful for my friends, my family back in the states, and the people of my community here in Marradi. I may not be Italian but I am the "American of Marradi" as I am fondly known by. Wishing everyone one the very best in 2023!
