OH GOD! This was BEYOND painful to watch! The reason reaching this point in the retrospective took so long was cause of how bad this series was! Okay okay a summary first.

Godzilla appears! The biggest he's ever been! And devestates the Earth! Humanity escapes and makes it to a new world lightyears away. One day they decide to come back to earth and take it back from Godzilla! Now they don't just send a team ahead of them...oh no...the ENTIRE REMAING MEMBERS of the population all go! A group lands, led by an edgie boy Haruo Sakaki who lost his family during the escape from the planet! They find godzilla and succeed in killing him...only to find out that it was the SON of the king of the monsters! And he's not happy they murdered his boy!

And that's just the first movie...the others deal with MechaGodzilla turned into a city of sentient nanomachines...and then a spectral King Ghidorah is summoned...and by the end...UGH...okay okay let's get to the big problem with this whole trilgoy.

It's TWO MOVIES TOO LONG! Had it just been the first movie and ended the way it did, it would have been fine. A cruel irony and ends on a very Twilight zone esque twist. But then theyu decided to make two more movies!

Now don't get me wrong. City on the Edge of Battle was not that bad and ends with a feeling of hope (probably helps 1) it has MechaGodzilla in it that always makes what he's in better. and 2) it's the only one of the trilogy with a co-writer)

But it's the final movie, the Planet Eater, that torpedoes the entire things. Why? Well...just about everyone left from earth dies! It was made clear that they should NEVER have come back! The entire message of this trilogy is "If monsters chase you off. Accept your fate! Either lay down and die, or leave and never come back!" also "Science is bad, even Medicine!" OH and lastly "Humans are bastards, make way for the evoled Bug people who use only nature!" Yeah...just...UGH! This was such a drastic deconstruction alongside Paul Feig's Ghostbusters or Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi!

Oh and lastly...GODZILLA IS TOO BIG! He's BEYOND a force of nature...he's a boring invincible villain that is so big you can never accept him ever loosing cause nothing can stop him!

So yeah...this was BEYOND Painful to watch! And Ingrid and I both recommend you AVOID this as much as possible! BUT Join us later as we go over a FAR Superior Godzilla Anime with Godzilla Singular Point!
