Why is deception sweet as honey?

In both secular and religious circles, deception is highly looked down upon. It hides vital information from the people who need it, and it misleads people into trusting individuals that shouldn't be trusted.

However, in many of these circles, there are people who actually enjoy lies. They listen to them and believe in them, even if they know the truth.
