Homesteading Move: How a Los Angeles Girl is Faring in the Jungle of Machu Picchu.

Taking a leap to return to the land and building our dream of living off grid and growing our own food has been much more challenging than I expected. Sharing a bit about my struggles feeling lost in the jungle and how I'm taking little steps to reconnect to living in the land. The pretty stuff and the beauty is real. And so is the discomfort and being out my element.

Now 3 months in - I give an update on the raw discomforts of living here in the wild cloud forest and what it's like to have no homesteading experience and want to step in at square one. I share my steps on how I've started to ease myself into the lifestyle. It's been hard to not compare myself to others who make it seem easy and what it's like to feel like a fish out of water.

We've had an incredible support of the eco project that we are living on (set up with solar/ spring fed water/food forest already planted) while we build next door and my husband is a rock star when it comes to having all the skills. I'm grateful to have so much space to be able to ease in. I know that isn't the case for everyone building their homesteading life. But we spent 10 years developing friendships and setting up a more supported entrance into the lifestyle. I took on the responsibility to fund big move and gave Eric lots of space to learn and build his off-grid skills. So now I'm doing my best to step up to learn as much as I can and participate as I get stronger and accustomed to living in the jungle.
