Hey, guys! In this video, Dr J shares his thoughts about plant-based proteins. The first thing to say is that fake meat is not meat. Referring to these products as meat has been widely criticised by the meat industry. Fake meats fall into two categories: plant-based proteins and cell-based proteins.

Fake meats can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet as a “sometimes food”. When choosing plant-based products, check the label to choose lower salt and higher fibre options. If you are looking for an alternative to meat that is both healthy for you and the environment, then whole plant foods are by far the best option for a plant-based or flexitarian diet. So, consult your functional doctors for the best approach for your gut health.
