David talks about DAO, a Distributed Autonomous Organization while Ohad talks about the advantage of using Logical Artificial Intelligence, more specifically Tau, a distributed Logical Artificial Intelligence.

If you have an AGI that is a single entity, right. It’s running on a server, it’s in a robot like Ultron, then it can go crazy, it can go off the rails, it can come up with its own ideas because it is a singular entity that can you know forklift itself from one platform to another. But what if your AI is distributed? It doesn’t have a single home, but it is intrinsically embedded in society. Now, your first reaction might be to say like, okay that’s even worse because if you have a distributed AGI that is embedded in everything if it goes haywire, it’s going to kill everyone really quickly because it’s going to be in every medical device and in every car, whatever. However, when you remember that DAO, Distributed Autonomous Organization, they operate based on consensus. If the whole world or whoever is participating comes to the consensus, that DAO needs to shut itself down, that code can be created and executed. Like everyone says this DAO is going haywire, let’s shut it down, that could happen. Alternatively, if people say hey like this DAO is going crazy, we need to completely restructure it that could happen too.

Does Ohad think artificial intelligence of any kind poses a substantial existential risk to humanity over the next 50 years? Are there benefits relating to this using Logical AI?
The question that is really interesting is whether artificial intelligence increases or reduces the probability of existential risk because there are existential risks for many things that are unrelated to artificial intelligence and with artificial intelligence, there are some new risks so this takes the probability higher but there is also the ability to mitigate the other risks which takes the probability lower in the overall calculation. What is the bottom line answer, of course, I don’t know but indeed artificial intelligence opens some risks but also mitigates some other risks. There are benefits to logical AI, and there are further benefits to Tau in this scope, in logical AI you can say in logic things that you don’t want to happen and then you are guaranteed that they will not happen, so that’s one way to reduce the risk using logical AI, further way, by using specifically Tau, is that you can ask who owns this AI that poses risks to humanity. Maybe it is owned by one malicious actor so the risk will be higher, but on Tau, this artificial intelligence is owned by everyone, and by that, we get additional risk reduction.
