One the easiest ways to throw a tracking team off a successful track, either intentionally or unintentionally, is to expose them to intense distraction. There are multiple ways to do this, but it is a good idea to test your dog in known tracks with distraction. Today, we are tracking right along our kennel runs where the dogs start to bark. The handler needs to take advantage of this and start to build confidence that his dog is tracking in the distraction. If the dog truly leaves the track, then calmly place them back into the track with motivational talk.
