Life was good…even though my wife and I were in our early seventys…we were still working. My wife was a school registrar and I was enjoying my second career teaching school to at-risk kids in a juvenile hall. We saw our only daughter, her husband and their son about 4 times a year.

Our daughter had married in 2008 and had moved to the northwest suburbs of Chicago…we were in California…

COVID happened…we were locked down…travel was very difficult and because of our age we wanted to be close to our kids…our grandson was going to start school…we wanted to be part of his life as he grew up…

It was time to move…but I still wanted to teach one more year…so the process to move started in Fall of 2021 to leave the town where we were born…the town our families had been in for three and four generations…the home we had lived in for 46 years…and move 2500 miles.

My wife did not feel that she could keep working and get us moved by May, so she retired in October of 2021…I finally realized the enormity of this change and retired at the end of 2021…

We had to:
Downsize
Sell our home which was on 10 of land
Arrange for moving our belongings
Transport one car
Plan driving 2500 miles across country
Plan for management of other property we owned

FROM THE TIME WE QUIT WORK…WE WERE BUSY FROM SUNUP TO SUNDOWN EVERY DAY…
Going back to November of 2021…we had been talking about retirment. I had joined the Home Business Academy going all in after I got an email giving me the 30 Minute Work Day Book written by Nick Bramble…

I was very concerned that retiring, moving away from friends and family that I would lose interaction with people…

As we were preparing for our move, I spent time with the Freedom Crusaders on Zoom meetings…I was connecting with people and starting to create a new community and once in a while I made some money too…WAHOO!

We finished up with…
Downsizing (that could be a video by itself)…
Selling our home (another video)…
And our friends and family giave us a tremendous month of farewell gatherings…

We left California on the 25th of May and headed East connecting in Arizona with I-40 aka Route 66…each night we where in another state…Kingman, Arizona…Santa Fe, New Mexico…Weatherford, Oklahoma…Bentonville, Arkansas…then into Illinois…pulling in to some friends house on the evening of Memorial Day for dinner and to celebrate the holiday…

Since then my connection to the Home Business Academy has continued to grow…I don’t get on the morning Grow Rich Inspiration call because I walk and listen to audio books during that time…

But I am on the Monday Night Marketing Mastermind Zoom meetings…

I am on the daily Traffic and Conversion Mastermind Zoom Meetings…this is where I have met people…connected with people…got to know so many…

I try to follow th SG4G Fomula established to help grow our businesses…

I was blessed to meet people from this community at our Freedom Fest gathering in Phoenix last November…

I have learned a lot in this last year…I have met people that are the salt of the earth…good, kind, honest, hardworking people…I have made so many friends…I have been blessed by my HBA family…

My business is developing…I can see it…I think at some point it will take off…

I am excited to see what happens in 2023…
