BUTT OUT: Greedy Goats Hog All The Holiday Treats

Greedy American Pygmy goats didn't give anyone else a look-in when keepers at their zoo in Austria decorated their enclosure with holiday treats.

The endangered goats gave a flock of rare miniature sheep a clear message to butt out as they surrounded a Christmas tree packed with apple rings and carrot tinsel.

A video shared by Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna shows the goats heading straight for the treats while the Ouessant sheep don't get a look-in.

Keeper Andrea Richter said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: "Our animals particularly like carrots and apples.

"But they only get them on special occasions and are therefore a particularly welcome change."

American Pygmy goats have been used for immunological research and antibodies production.

And Ouessant sheep are among the smallest breeds of sheep in the world.

Both breeds have set up home in the zoo's petting section.

Zoo director Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck said: "In our petting zoo, children can come into direct contact with animals, which is otherwise often hardly possible, especially in cities.

"The animals also have spacious retreat areas in the facility and can therefore decide for themselves whether they feel like interacting with the visitors."
