In 2022, we purchased and played a lot of games for a lot of different systems. From the current generation Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 to retro games on the NES, Famicom, and Genesis, there has been a lot to enjoy. I haven't played a lot of the 2022 new releases, slacker I know, but I did want to share my favorite games I spent time with over the past year.

Title: Mighty Final Fight
System: Famicom/NES

Plot: Mighty Final Fight follows the same premise as the original Final Fight. The Mad Gear Gang, the dominant street gang of Metro City, has kidnapped Mayor Haggar's daughter, Jessica. After Haggar is informed of her kidnapping, he sets out to rescue her along with his two friends: Cody, Jessica's boyfriend; and Guy, Cody's training partner. The story is presented in a more comical fashion compared to the original game due to its satirical nature. For example, Belger's motive for kidnapping Jessica in this version is to force her into marrying him, having become infatuated with her.

Where I Bought It:
I bought it during a trip to Live Action Games in Champaign, IL. I also bought DuckTales and Jackie Chan from him at the same time.

Why I love it:
I love this era of beat 'em up games, and Final Fight has always been a favorite. I got an NES ROM hack from Ryan at CastlemaniaGames in 2018 as a gift, but I always wanted an OG cart. The NES version is way expensive, but the Famicom version gives me a chance to enjoy it at a reduced cost. I can even play it on my NES thanks to a 60-to-72-pin adapter!
