"On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."

Gold, frankincense, and myrrh were and still are some of the most expensive items to gift. Frankincense represents a deity. Myrrh was used in death proceedings. Gold is represented as purity. All perfect representations of Christ's life.
