1. The desire for a quick result.
The metabolism is slowed down and damaged by rapid weight reduction.Â
Rapid weight loss almost ensures that the weight will come back, and there is a high likelihood that one may "break down."Â
The worst part is that when you choose a "rapid" diet, you primarily lose water and intestinal contents instead of fat, which of course starts to return to normal.
The promise of losing 3, 5, or even 7 kg of weight per week is frequently what draws people to "quick" diets, and most importantly, these promises are kept! Usually, fat is not shed when weight is lost. The highest amount of fat that can be lost every day is roughly 250 grams, or 1.75 kg per week. So what precisely is lost when a person lose 5 or even 7 kg in a week? Water, intestinal contents, muscle tissue, and very little fat make up the majority of it! This explains why the weight quickly returns after a diet since the body just replaces the water that was artificially evacuated, and the extra weight is brought on by eating more than is required for regular functioning.
The body requires all the nutrients, including proteins, carbs, fats, vitamins, and minerals, in order to function effectively. From the very beginning of extreme conditions (a rigorous diet is an excessive situation for the body) the body takes care of the brain and heart, which are the most vital organs. The body first uses the liver's reserves to "feed" the brain, and if those are insufficient, it starts to deplete the muscles' reserves. Does fat burn? No, they are the last to be broken down. The metabolism changes when the body realizes that it must not burn too much protein or it will perish. Such eating is a major shock to the metabolism, and in order to prevent experiencing something similar again, the body enters "austerity mode" (to build up more reserves), which causes everything to turn to fat when normal diet is resumed. Because of this, after quick diets, the weight frequently doubles again.
