The eagle was Enlil’s symbol because Enlil had command of the skies and he was considered the bad god. The eagle actually represents domination & control. Enlil was a dark “god” if there ever was one. The serpent actually represented Enki — the good guy god of the Sumerian epics. It represents knowledge, though it can be misused in evil ways, is not evil. Enki teaches us to see the qualities in men and in nature so that we can better judge our deeds and our fates.
