How to manage stress (E247)

I feel that over the past few decades, stress seems to be an accolade, a right of passage to success and a measure of self-worth. Today's guest, Phil Barth, had a bit of a wake-up call when he experienced a heart attack and his doctor attributed it to stress. Not that I want to start a debate on who has more stress, us moms or our husbands/partners, but studies have shown that women are more prone to suffer from extreme stress. The American Psychological Association reports a gender gap year after year showing that women consistently report higher stress levels.

Let’s face it, from the time our kids were born, the demands on our time have been relentless. Even now as our kids are older, those demands are still there. Add on work/career stress and then maybe caring for aging parents or grandkids, the stress is still there.

The good news is that there are things that we can do to bring back focus on ourselves. In this episode we chat about:

Stress management
The importance of starting your day off right
And why we should be more like dogs

It's also important to keep in mind, that while we have to manage our own stress, it's important to see signs of prolonged stress in our husbands/partners. Women and men handle things very differently and exhibit signs of stress just as differently.
