Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Thursday (December 22) that he returned from Washington with "good results". "We are bringing the decisions expected by our Defense Forces to Ukraine, Donbas - Bakhmut and the South," Zelensky said in the video. Zelensky also met with Polish President Andrzej Duda "in a special format, one-on-one". "I told him what I heard in the United States, about our strategic vision for the coming year. We are preparing and strengthening our joint forces." Zelensky told the US Congress on Wednesday (Dec 21) that aid to Ukraine was an investment in democracy, not charity, and urged America to continue its victory over the Nazis in World War II. On his first foreign trip during the war, Zelenskiy had earlier met with President Joe Biden, and he called for the support to continue in 2023. Zelensky's speech was aimed at allaying concerns about Republicans taking control of Congress and trying to sway US public opinion on his side by reminding him of the challenges his people face.
