CHP hoist injured mountain biker off Spring Hill Trail

This afternoon, CHP H-30 responded to the area of the Spring Hill Trail with Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, AMR Contra Costa County, and the East Bay Regional Park District to a report of a mountain biker down near the Spring Hill Trail.

H-30 arrived overhead, and after an extensive search located the rider approximately 200 feet off trail.

H-30 lowered a San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Helicopter Rescue Technician to the scene. The San Ramon HRT treated the patient and placed him in a rescue harness.

The rider was hoisted from the trail and flown to a waiting AMR ambulance. The rider sustained a major injury to his leg.
