A 12-year-old girl was seen running away before she was pinned to the ground by Hong Kong riot police during a protest on September 6, 2020. The girl said that she was in the area to buy painting supplies with her brother. They were both fined for violating coronavirus social-distancing rules against gatherings of more than two people. Police said in a statement that officers said the girl appeared to be “suspicious” at the time of the Sunday protest in the city’s Mong Kok region where police fired pepper balls at demonstrators. This footage also includes images of a person being removed on a stretcher in the aftermath of the police action.
