Making Soldiers: Basic Training at Fort Benning, United States Army

The physical and mental preparation for service in the United States Army, United States Army Reserve, or Army National Guard is the goal of the recruit training program known as United States Army Basic Training (IET). The typical duration of basic training is ten weeks. The recruits will be given the rank of "Soldier" when they finish the program. Soldierhood is earned and never given.
