RAY TO GO: Man Feeds Stingrays In Shallow Sea Waters Of The Maldives

This is the astonishing moment when a man hand-feeds wild stingrays a fishy takeaway in the shallow waters on a beach in the Maldives.

Mohamed Muaz, 23, - from Hulhudheli island, in Dhaalu Atoll - amazed his Instagram followers after he shared the video on Tuesday, 1st November.

The fascinating footage reportedly shows one of Mohamed's friends named Muja, feeding a group of stingrays in the Sun Siyam Vilu Reef located near the country's capital, Male on 15th April.

In the video, Muja can be seen feeding one stingray before making a few steps forward and throwing some food at a small shark nearby.

He then kneels before another stingray while the huge fish swims up to him to take a bite.

The 23-year-old professional photographer said: "Everyday at 5pm they feed the stingrays."

Mohammed explained more about the amazing fish by saying: "Stingrays generally aren’t dangerous — in fact, they have a reputation for being gentle.

"They often burrow beneath the sand in the shallows and swim in the open water.

"Stingrays will usually only sting when disturbed or stepped on by unaware swimmers.

"Most of the time, you can avoid being stung by a stingray."

He claimed that other than stingrays, he has so far encountered many sharks and trevallies which also visit the reef to feed.
