Recently, Chinese leader Xi Jinping was forced to make compromises: ending zero-covid, making a U-turn on the economy, and giving his political enemy a high-profile state funeral. Currently, China’s massive COVID outbreak is worse than anyone had anticipated and has threatened the CCP officials. A few recent events indicate Xi’s various political struggles: the Indian border conflict, the promotion of Hu Jintao’s son, and the absence of his officials at a critical economic meeting.
