Church Service 05-01-22 Livestream - Matthew 2:1-23 - "The Response of Herod"

Complete Church Service for Sunday, May 1, 2022. Last week we began to look at the first of two important responses to the birth of Jesus Christ. We saw how the Wise Men responded with commitment and worship to the child and how this response becomes a model for those who will believe. This week we look at the response of Herod the King to birth of the Christ. In contrast to the Wise Men, Herod ultimately rejects the authority and kingship of the Messiah and in a cruel twist of treachery tries to kill him. For Herod there could be no King in his life but himself. Herod's rejection is a cautionary tale about the dangers of self-centeredness and the destruction that it can bring into our lives.
