Many countries see surge in respiratory disease – rising concerns over infants with RSV

In many countries in the northern hemisphere, hospitals are seeing a surge in patients with respiratory disease. Among them: Respiratory syncytial virus or RSV. It can pose a particular danger to newborns, because the inflammation and mucus it causes can block the tiny airways in their lungs. There is not vaccine against the RSV but it looks like that will soon change.
