Participation, cooperation and games
What is participation? Do we need to do it? What about cooperation?
In this video, I use the framing (which I don't personally like) of games, thinking of the entire world has a series of set of games. This framing is useful to demonstrate the ideas around cooperation and participation as such.
There are reasons we participate, mimicry being a big reason, along with being better together with distributed cognition. Competition is key to personal improvement, seeing others around you, being able to specialize indicates inequality, but that is not a bad thing. Having the opportunity to be the best at something is good for you and others.
Nature, other people and the relationship with your inner self all play a role in understanding the framing of games. While this game idea helps us to make sense of the world, we should know what we are getting into when we decided to engage (or not) with a game. Trade offs abound.
