Sam Harris - A critique

Sam Harris and his moral landscape, his systems of morality and his statements about free will are fairly well known to many people. Often, people repeat his ideas without even having heard him. Can we create our own morality, resolve ethics and know good from evil? This is not so clear as one might think. Harris is not the first to try this but his conceptions are common stopping points on the way to better wrestle with these questions.
While secular conceptions pretend to be philosophy, we need to be careful to know if they meet the standards of describing ethics, morality and resolve issues of how to orient in this complex world. Relativistic tools have their place for certain, but do not offer answers as to what to do without lots of context.
