Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that Lionel Messi’s status as the greatest footballer of all time is complete after Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup.

Lionel Scaloni’s men lifted the trophy for the first time since 1986 on Sunday as Messi captained and led his side to glory in Qatar.

Guardiola, who was speaking on the eve of City's EFL Cup Round of 16 match against Liverpool, oversaw Messi’s rise to prominence during his formative years at Barcelona during 2008 and 2012.
