"Théodore Dubois was an important figure at the Paris Conservatory from 1871 until 1905. From 1896 until his retirement he served as its Director.
He was a conservative professor who was also an organist of the highest caliber. In his retirement, he wrote out the realizations of lessons from the harmony book he had just published (1921). He also included realizations of partimenti from the harmony book (1857) of his teacher François Bazin.
In the following pages, you will see his summary examples of "the most used" marches harmoniques. For each marche, under a bracket of dashes, you will find the "model" which is to be sequentially extended (Dubois writes "etc."). He first presents diatonic (non-modulating) marches, followed by a collection of modulating marches."
