Netherlands Freeze: Skaters Needs RESCUING From Frozen Lake in The Hague

The Netherlands is enduring its biggest freeze in a decade as a cold snap grips Europe. The temperature is expected to drop to as low as -20 Celsius on Saturday night.

Skaters in Amsterdam took advantage of the Prinsengracht canal's frozen surface.

But thrill-seekers in The Hague soon discovered how treacherous ice can be... Several people fell through into the freezing lake as the ice melted on Friday afternoon. Firefighters were deployed to rescue others trapped on an island in the Hofvijver - a pond in the centre of the city.
