Families Minister Karina Gould and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announce that parents in Ontario will see their licensed child-care fees reduced by 50 per cent on average by the end of 2022. The ministers are joined at the news conference in Toronto by Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce as well as by Charmaine Williams, Ontario's associate minister of women's social and economic opportunity. Minister Lecce announces the province is creating an additional 53,000 affordable child-care spaces. Linda Cottes, senior vice-president of child and family development at the YMCA of Greater Toronto, also takes part in the announcement. In March 2022, the federal and Ontario governments announced a $13.2-billion agreement with the goal of providing $10-a-day child care in the province by September 2025. Minister Freeland also responds to questions from reporters about health-care funding for the provinces and territories. (Note: Technical problems with this video originate at the source)
