Black Snake pretending to be a Rattlesnake

One of the sad things about Spring is the roadside rescues pick up quickly.

Picked this guy up on the way home this evening, something happened to it in the road, but it wasn't run over, maybe just brushed by a car but its mouth was bloodied and it was dazed and confused so got it to our local Wildlife rescue Dr Burwell at Wildlife Vet Care in Milwood.

I love watching them pretending to be a rattler to protect its home. He let me handle him fine on the road, and getting him out of the box and into the cage here was no issue but once he found that safe dark cage he didn't want to be bothered any more.
