Fourth Sunday of Advent - Emmanuel: God (is) With Us - 2022-12-18

MESSAGE OUTLINE

Scripture Readings
Isaiah 7:10-14, Psalm 24:1-2,3-4,5-6, Romans 1:1-7, Matthew 1:18-24

1st Reading - …Ahaz proclaims the sign that the Lord will give: a virgin shall give birth to a son, Emmanuel.

2nd Reading - …Paul greets the community at Rome and declares himself a servant of Christ Jesus.

GOSPEL - …the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
…and telling him that the child she will bear will be called Emmanuel (God with us).

Jesus is His name. Emanuel is who He is.
Christmas gift filled with kisses - What is our focus the presents we may get or the reason for the season
King of Judah says no to God’s message - Joseph says yes

Body - Emmanuel: God With Us

Think Big / Pray Big
1st Reading - … Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God;
let it be deep as the netherworld, or high as the sky!
All things are possible with God

Accept Call
2nd Reading - …called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God
No age or experience requirement
In hospital one man with bed near window

Fear Not / Say Yes
GOSPEL - …do not be afraid
Emmanuel: God With Us - No reason to fear - God is with us
God with skin on Him

Conclusion
My Christmas Prayer is for Peace, Mercy, Love and Forgiveness. And for a New Birth inside each and every one of you.
