Cate Blanchett to Receive Best Actress Honor at Palm Springs Film Awards

At the Palm Springs International Film Awards, Cate Blanchett a two-time Oscar winner will add again another honor to her long list of successes. Cate Blanchett will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award from the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her role in Tár. On January 5, 2023, Blanchett will be presented with the award in a ceremony held at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
Harold Matzner, chairman of the film festival said “Cate Blanchett is truly one of the best actresses of this generation, whose performances are always extraordinary no matter the role,”. There is no one better suited for this role. Todd Field, who previously helmed a feature with "Little Children" in 2006, wrote, produced, and directed the movie.
No one is more appropriate for this role. She plays Lydia Tár, the first female head conductor of a significant German orchestra and one of the best orchestra conductors in history, in the film.
Cate Blanchett is a renowned actor, producer, creative director, humanitarian, and devoted member of the arts community who has won an Academy Award. She starred in the film Carol in 2015, and for her work there, she was nominated for an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award, and a SAG award. For her depiction of Jasmine in Blue Jasmine and for her role as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator, Blanchett received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress.
