"One of the most beautiful, vast and safe bays the Sun had ever shone upon" was how author Joseph Conrad described Sydney Harbour in 1906. And still, today, it is difficult not to be impressed with its sparkling blue waters and natural beauty.

SYDNEY HARBOUR RECOLLECTIONS looks at life on and around Sydney Harbour during the twentieth century. This fascinating blend of contemporary and historical footage transports viewers from the early 1900s when the only means of crossing the Harbour was by ferry, to today when it can be transversed (sp) by bridge, water and tunnel.

Highlights include the transformation of the Harbour Bridge with the building and opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the establishment of the Rose Bay Flying Boat Base, the Sydney Opera House, and conversion of Darling Harbour.

See big-game fishing from Watson's Bay, historic harbourside (sp) mansions, Luna Park, Taronga Park Zoo and Australia's Bicentennial celebrations.

Two extraordinary events are featured - the day was came to Sydney Harbour, and the Harbour at its most frightening as high swells roll in through the Heads.

Plus an astonishing selection of strange occurrences seen on the Harbour over the years!
