'I've NEVER seen fans come together like this before!' | David Beckham on World Cup, Messi, Mbappe

David Beckham has summed up his feelings on the Qatar 2022 World Cup and said it "has been a real privilege to see the fans come together."

Beckham's role as Qatar 2022 ambassador has been met with controversy, but the former England World Cup captain has been impressed with several aspects of the first World Cup to be held in the middle east, including fans being able to watch several games in one day.

In a World Cup of shock results and high drama the 47-year-old picked his highlight of the tournament and it wasn't a player, a match, or a teams performance:

"My favourite thing of this World Cup is seeing people together."

In addition the 47-year-old seemed impressed by families sharing "special" experiences with fans across the globe.

Beckham, who played in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals for England, is one of the owners of Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami.

Ahead of the final between Argentina and France, Beckham looked back over the last month and picked his personal highlights, including has favourite match; the quarter-final between Messi's Argentina and the Netherlands.

Argentina won 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time, Messi scored in that match leading Beckham to describe him as a "special, special person, special individual on and off the field."

Beckham joined the chorus of fans who have been mesmerised by the rise and ambition of Morocco, a team who reached the World Cup semi-final and captured the imagination of football fans across the world.

As a former England captain Beckham is excited to see what the future holds for his own country, especially with the full support of fans who are right behind a young team full of star players like Jude Belliingam and Bukayo Saka.
