Troops In Humvee Blast Russian Positions With Heavy Machine Gun Fire
This footage shows Ukrainian troops in a Humvee blasting a number of 'camouflaged' Russian positions with rapid bursts of fire from a heavy machine gun.
The 8th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion said in a statement obtained by Newsflash on Sunday, 18th December: "Wolves help the occupiers to make the right decision - to flee from our native land."
And AFU StratCom (Centre for Strategic Communications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces) said: "The crew of the HMMWV 10 of the OGSHBr suppresses the occupants' strongholds with small-arms fire."
The 8th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion is part of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, which, in turn, is part of is part of Operational Command West and is based in Kolomyia.
The military Humvee (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) is produced by AM General, which is based in South Bend, Indiana, USA.
It is not clear where in Ukraine the drone footage was filmed.
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is still calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 299th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February and 19th December, Russia had lost about 98,800 personnel, 2,988 tanks, 5,969 armoured combat vehicles, 1,953 artillery units, 410 multiple launch rocket systems, 212 air defence systems, 281 warplanes, 264 helicopters, 1,657 drones, 653 cruise missiles, 16 warships, 4,592 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 175 units of special equipment.
Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.
Ukraine restored power to almost six million people over the weekend after a barrage of Russian missiles damaged critical energy infrastructure on Friday.
And Poland's police chief, Jaroslaw Szymczyk, has said the explosion that put him in hospital last week was caused by a grenade launcher gifted to him by Ukraine.
A Russian-installed official in Zaporizhzhia has said a shield is being installed over a storage site for nuclear waste at the nuclear power plant to protect it from shelling.
And Moldova has reached a short-term energy deal with a domestic supplier to help wean itself off natural gas from Russia.
