For self-defense, the Intruder is also equipped with a 20 to 37 mm caliber assault cannon. Installed twins in two domes. One dome sits atop the plane to fend off attacks from above. The other is under the hull near the tail for shooting attackers coming from below. The most frightening, eight gun barrels mounted on the nose to beat the enemy (strafe) on the surface.

Complementing the look, there is a nose art decoration in the form of a shark's jagged mouth on the nose of the plane. Noseart was a popular trend among military aircraft crews during WWII.
