Fireworks set off on Champs Elysees as France fans are left disappointed after World Cup Final

French football fans gathered on the Champs Elysees to watch the World Cup final between France and Argentina.

They watched the match on their phones as there were no giant screens broadcasting it since the city of Paris and other French cities decided to boycott the World Cup.

French fans were ready to celebrate their team winning the World Cup for the second time in a row, but it wasn't to be.

They lost against Argentina in a game full of surprises.

Argentina lead the score, but France always managed to come back and make the score even. In the end, the World Cup was won by Argentina on penalties.

Mark Davis, an American soccer coach visiting Paris, said it was the "best World Cup final" he'd ever seen.

French supporters were sad, but consoled by the great performance of the French team.

Jerôme, who came to Paris from the Ardennes region with his son to join festivities in the capital, said: "I'm disappointed with the end, but afterwards, that's how it is, that's life, there has to be a winner."

There was a heavy police presence in the French capital with some fans being dispersed when fireworks and flares were set off in the crowds.
