Cha'a chac ceremony #shorts

The sun had just begun to set when we arrived at the sacred ceremony. The shaman who led the ceremony began to speak in a language that we didn't understand; but his words were beautiful nonetheless.

He spoke of the importance of the ceremony, and how it would connect us with mother earth and the Mayan god Chaac. As he spoke, we felt a sense of peace washing over us, and we knew that this was going to be a special experience.

The altar was made of stone and decorated with flowers and other offerings. It seemed like a place where heaven and earth intersected. The Shaman then asked Chaac for his blessings, so that the crop, the milpa (a cultivated field) could grow and thrive.
We felt privileged to be part of this ceremony; and as we looked around at the other Mayan participants, we could see the same reverence in their eyes. It was clear that we all held these rituals close to our hearts; and that they meant something special to us.
