About Turnstyle Mcqs:

The beach is my solice, peace and tranquility. My spiritual home, where I can ‘be’, when nothing else matters. Simply listening and absorbing the sounds of the waves in all their glory.
As I walked along my local beach after my work shift, I realised that the sea was healing me. I still go there often, for barefoot grounding.

4 years ago, on this particular day, I was at a loss within my life. My body was in pain from the day job as well as the depression and anxiety I suffered from.
I walked for miles and miles, and I discovered, by chance, Driftwood - lots of it! This was unusual as it was in the month of April, out of driftwood season which tends to run through the winter months.

I stopped suddenly, in my tracks, filled with joy. I remember my heart jumping and feeling so excited, as I had been contemplating on how I could change the direction of my life. Right there, in that moment I began collecting. I rushed home excited to start researching my new friend and material. Every moment I walked back home from work, past the beach, I would always collect more driftwood, adding to my new beloved collection.

My research led me to learning how to clean driftwood the eco way.

I remember, creating my first driftwood boat. It was raw, and I created a fabric sail, dressed with fairy lights. I was so overjoyed! I realised, that I had a hidden talent I never knew was there. It was time to bring this out to the world and fulfill my talents with love.
My idea was to show others how we heal from the beach with art, sculptures, and furniture all made from driftwood. No more need to cut down trees, time has moved on. I also realised how badly polluted our seas are, due to plastics - I do my bit!

I created my business name, ‘Turnstyle Mcqs’, from Turn your life around into a Style that suits.
From there, Turnstyle Mcqs was born. Since my beach awakening, I have been fortunate to have won awards for my work, been invited to contribute to prestigious exhibitions, displays, and healing gardens. I have spoken at events including the Womens’ Institute.

At a transformative time of my personal life, I was invited to create for the 400 Year Gothenburg Art Festival Anniversary courtesy of Collective Moves.

Imagine what you can all do when your heart sings to its own rhythm…
