The architecture of St. Petersburg

The architecture of St. Petersburg is so diverse and unusual that you can literally walk and photograph every house. Sometimes real "treasures" can be found in the most inconspicuous places, lost among small streets.
The apartment house of architect N.N. Nikonov. On the site of the current house there used to be a two-story merchant's house, and N.N. Nikonov had already rebuilt it into a five-story one. The master himself worked a lot with church architecture, so the facade of the house somewhat resembles an ancient Russian temple. The number of tiny details just makes your eyes run away. The architect used plaster and multicolored tiles, but at the same time preserved the historical brickwork. Ceramic inserts are everywhere: on columns, porticos, around windows and even on the roof. The house is as if covered with glaze. This style is called non-Russian, including because of the pronounced Russian motifs. In general, the building can be considered not only an architectural monument, but also a monument of decorative and applied art.
