This Lake Is Filled With Bones - Roopkund Lake

Nestled in the Himalayas is a secret that most people have never heard of. It goes by many names: Mystery Lake, Roopkund Lake, and perhaps the most ominous; Skeleton Lake.

But how did this seemingly beautiful body of water earn such an ominous moniker? Well, it’s not just a symbolic name. The lake is filled with hundreds of skeletons. When the snow melts, you can clearly see the scattered human remains clustered along the water’s edge.

For tourists, the sight is shocking. For locals, it’s the source of one of their darkest legends. For scientists, it’s a complete mystery, because the strangest thing about Roopkund Lake is that no one really knows how these people died.
