As a lizard that has the ability to dive, the Sea Iguana is able to hold its breath for quite a long time. They can dive to a depth of 20 meters and hold their breath between 30-40 minutes. When diving, the Sea Iguana is able to slow its heart rate to half its normal rate, so they can swim longer underwater in search of food.
