Prehistoric Carachama, Amazonian Armored Catfish

While taking fishing lessons from a Kichwa fisherman today, we caught this carachama, a fish that hasn’t evolved in 500 million years. It has armored scales that are as hard as steel, and rough, shark like skin underneath.
