Christmas is the most festive time of year, filled with joy, laughter, family, and holiday cheer. The holiday season is supposed to be a time for everyone to enjoy those around them and the time they spend together. As Dr. Seuss once said, "Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand."

Despite all of its holiday charm, Christmas also tends to be a time when people make poor judgment calls, often resulting in personal harm and even crime. One of the top crimes during the holiday season is theft, in which opportunistic thieves steal packages left on porches, doorsteps, and within mailboxes. What happens though, when Christmas crime elevates from petty theft to something worse, like assault, manslaughter, or murder?

We discuss in detail the Marvellous Keene Murder Spree, otherwise known as the 1992 Christmas killings that occurred in Dayton, Ohio. We also cover the Wholaver Murders, which occurred in December 2002. We touch on the murder of Alan Williamson, which was committed by Melissa Young, a woman who claimed that during the murder, she was possessed by a heavenly spirit. We also cover the gruesome murder committed by Alexis Valdez on Christmas day in 2013.
