Can you smell a snake?

Cotton Mouth Water Moccasin and Copperheads have a very distinct- but different smell. Once you've smelled a couple- you can certainly pick up on it and react a good bit before you see them! Couldn't tell you how many times I've just stopped for apparently no reason- got that feeling- looked around a bit and found one laying out there a few feet away...
