Tying the Barrington - Dressed Irons
Step by Step showing you how to tie the Barrington wet fly.
Hook: Mustad 3399, #4-#14
Thread: Danville 6/0, Black
Tip: Danville Silver/Gold Mylar Tinsel, #16/#18
Rib: Danville Silver/Gold Mylar Tinsel, #16/#18
Body: Peacock Herl
Hackle: Hen Saddle or Schlappen, Brown
Wing: Gray Mallard Flank
The Barrington is another old pattern that can be found in Ray Bergman's Trout. I chose this fly for a tying video to demonstrate a particular tying technique for the peacock herl that helps make the body a little fuller. Also, there is no tail on the Barrington and this is a good fly to show one technique for tying in and applying the tip and the rib that can smooth out the overall process of tying this fly. The Technique was also mentioned and demonstrated in the video I did on the Hardy's Favorite about a year ago. I will also be publishing another supplemental video later this week on managing and using peacock herl in you fly tying. - Enjoy
